Yeah, that's right......my beer, and I don't even drink. Anyway, my dream of a Dodger vs Red Sox world series has faded. One dream is over and the other is hanging by a thread. It's a long shot, but anything is possible.
Though most Red Sox fans won't admit it, Boston definitely misses Manny in that line-up. Jason Bay has been a nice replacement, but he still isn't Manny. David Ortiz is 1-14 without an RBI. Mostly because he no longer has protection behind him. Boston needs to get on a hot streaks. There's something to be said about streaks. All teams have them during the season, both hot and cold streaks. When the play-offs come a team just can't afford to get a cold streak, as the series aren't very long.
I'm still hoping that Boston can come back and win, but I'll admit it doesn't look god. This just isn't the same team that came back on the Yankees, down 0-3. Matsuzaka goes tonight, so its all on his shoulders to get us to game 6.
Now what can I say about the Dodgers. Very disappointing........ again. It would be all to easy to put the blame on shortstop Rafael Furcal for committing 3 errors in one inning. I'd rather look at the bigger picture, not just one game. First, Furcal was probably still hurting from his back surgery, so why not play Nomar? Second, Russell Martin was hitting .207 behind Ramirez. Why would any team pitch to Manny with Martin coming up next? Third, Why take Lowe out after 5 inning and only 75 pitches. The Dodgers didn't seem to play with a purpose. No base stealing to speak of. No hit and runs, and absolutely no bunting. How many double plays does one team have to hit into, to realize that bunting gets you one more chance at a hit. I know a lot of teams won't ask a super star to bunt, so all I can take from that is that winning isn't the priority, its protecting egos. There's really no way to say why all of a sudden, they forgot how to pitch and hit, but something happened and it wasn't pretty.
All I can say, especially to McCourt, if you don't fix you team with consistant hitting, better rotation and a new bullpen, the Dodger's won't get to the WS next year either. You could start by re-signing Manny Ramirez.
Quit screwing with "my dreams", my beer is getting watered down.

I agree with your analysis. Just because Manny is in the line-up is no excuse to forget about the advantages of playing 'small-ball'.
