5 things need to be done to turn around Charlotte Bobcats | Its hiphop's Blog

To say that the Charlotte Bobcats are a struggling team is being kind. The Charlotte Bobcats have yet to give the city the type of buzz of the Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson hornet teams of the early 90's. Owner Bob Johnson and Michael Jordan have yet to make a mark in this cities young sports history. Here are a couple of things that I feel that they should do to improve the struggling franchise.

1. Change the uniforms; they look cheaply made as if they were summer league uniforms. I think that it is ironic that one of the owners of the organizations is known as a stylish trendsetter and his teams uniforms look the way they do.

2. Reach out to the community, The Carolina Panthers are figures of the community, though I know that the bobcats are involved in the community to some degree, they have yet to become a signature face of the community. They are ranked third behind football and NASCAR.

3. Bring in better talent, look I'm not saying that one on one I can beat anybody on the team but collectively the roster looks like a free agents list of guards and small forwards. Last years draft I watch the Bobcats past on Brook Lopez and Chris Douglas Roberts and if you watch how dominant both of those guys were in big games you could see their upside just the way everyone had the opportunity to see Greg Odens upside when he played against Florida in the National Championship game. Yeah I know you are saying that the Bobcats drafted D.J Augustine but is he really that much better than Raymond Felton who was three years experience. They Bobcats need to win now there is no room for error.

4. Improve Marketability, They have no identity; there merchandise usually comes of as cheesy. It lacks style again Michael Jordan is the guy that revolutionized sports paraphernalia and is a part owner of the ugliest team in the NBA. If you asked the average NBA fan who plays for the Bobcats I believe half of them couldn't name two of the starting 5. Besides Jason Richardson who gained notoriety from winning the dunk competition years ago no one else is a high light regular and into days You tube, Sportcenter top 10 world highlights are very important. You will hardly see Bobcats highlights on Sportscenter unless they are playing one of the leagues dominant or historic teams.

5. Win. If the Bobcats make it to the playoffs which realistically could happen baring any major injuries the Bobcats could have a winning season which could increase attendance as well as the cities moral for the team. This is a very important season for the Bobcats if they do not get things in order soon their might not be a Charlotte Bobcats.
