While I'm no Dana worshipper as some in the MMA fan world. I must give credit where credit is due. He has allowed MMA to garner some of the recogniztion that it deserves through clever marketing and working with legitimate athletic commissions to ensure safety to its athletes. But that being said, I am critical as to how the president of an organization and face of MMA acts like he's one of the fighters instead of an executive of the sport. He's allowed his ego and mouth to set back what his organization has done thus far. Whenever you have the president of your organization talkin trash and bashing competition openly it tends to take away the credibility and legitimacy of your sport away a little bit. The mainstream sport world can't help but view it as the WWE except  with maybe a little more realism. MMA is already fighting an uphill battle with all the sensitive types that think its just "human cockfighting". Dana's actions do not help the situation but only make it appear less legitimate while running his company as some sort of 2nd rate mafiaoso.

I know the hardcore MMA fan loves some Dana White; and he's brillant and all that yeah, yeah, yeah. maybe so to an extent. But I also know he and the organization will never truly be accepted in the mainstream sports world unless he(the face of MMA) starts acting like the president of the top MMA organization in the world. You don't see Selig, Goodell, Stern, or any other similiar leader of sports organization act as if they are actually competing. I love MMA and feel like it should be part of the main sporting world establishment. I hope for the day that I can turn on ESPN and see highlights of my favorite fighters on regular basis with equal length as other sports without it being almost laughed or scoffed at by the sportscasters that are reporting the news as some kind of farce.
