Just checking to see if any of you on this group are awake, seeing as how I haven't written here for awhile.
Now, for some (short) thoughts...
Next year, we start referring to the Camping World Truck Series. We'd known since last October that Craftsman was pulling out, so why did NASCAR wait until the last possible moment to line up CW?? (Besides economics, I mean.)
Yet, seems a shame that both Ford and Dodge are cutting ties with the Trucks (and Ford bailing on Nationwide, as well). Still think we're not in a recession, people??
On a related note, while I'm watching Nationwide "happy hour" @ Memphis (on ESPN Classic), they just now finished interviewing Bobby Hamilton Junior about how this might be his last race of the year. His race team's running short of money, and they might have to fold their tents after this weekend.
Meanwhile, back @ Atlanta...
I'm hoping we can get qualifying in tonight. I had to explain (for our Active NASCAR Group's "Pick 'Em" contest) that in case qualifying gets rained out, I'm screwed. I picked Joey Logano...and no qualifying, no Joey. I asked if I could make a backup pick, but I got a feeling I'll be stuck with 9 picks this week. I'll live with it, I guess.
(Oh, one more word on Memphis: Marc Davis, who's the developmental driver for JGR, makes his Nationwide debut tomorrow in the #18 car. I for one want him to get that ride next year...even if it's part-time. Don't let THIS one get away, J.D., all right??)
Enjoy your racing weekend, folks!!!
