Huntsville, we have a problem.
The two state run Churches, I mean Universities (come on y'all know football is a religion in this state. The Good Book tells us "the truth shall set you free") are both experiencing big problems. One team is able to win despite its lackluster 2nd half while the other one can't keep an offensive coordinator to save its life or put a complete game together. So let's start with the one I am sweet on: The Crimson Tide.
With the loss of Terence Cody, our defense looked vulnerable and shaky. I didn't realize the big guy in the middle was such a huge source of energy. The rest of the defensive squad has been mining Mount Cody for his enthusiam and thirst for the game. Everybody in the stadium and fans at home saw the lights in Bryant-Denny get a little dimmer when the big fella was carted off during the 2nd quarter. Now, I will give the rest of the boys their props. They stepped up and shot down a driving Ole Miss team. With what looked to be their last bit of energy, the Tide D killed the Wild Hog/Rebel. But that was too close for comfort, and that's why the Masters Coaches poll has us ranked 3rd in the nation. Even Coach Stallings and Coach Pat Dye voted us 3rd as reported by the Paul Finebaum Network. Coack Stallings said the team did not play like the second best team in the nation during the second half. So what will Saturday look like? It needs to like the beginning of the Georgia game. We need to unleash our 3-headed beast of Coffe, Ingram, and Upchurh. We need to run that ball up the gut of Tennessee until Fat Phil himself is vomitting on the sideline. Ok, I know that was a little personal, but that is one low-down man. ANYhoo! More importantly we need the level-headed, clear thinking, tight spiral thowing JPW. Utilize our tight ends Nick Walker and Brad Smelly. This should give Mr. Jones a little breathing room and make his YAC a little easier to get. I think we can handle Tennessee. Even though the Orange and White have only given up two rushing TDs this season, our highly-touted O Line should prove steady. Now let's just hope the running backs' hand are just as steady.
Ok, this is bad and I am not even an Auburn fan. My children are already trained to turn up their noses at clothes, or toys that contain too much blue and orange. Tommy Tubberville's little world is crumbling. I didn't really believe this until last night. But after watching WVU dismantle this former Top 25 team, I knew the turmoil on the Plains had defanged/declawed the Tigers. Kodi Burns should give back his scholarship and the assistant coaches should all resign out of respect for the program. The players seem unfocused and unmotivated once they get hit the mouth a little bit. The Mountaineers running game smacked the Auburn defense around like momma correcting a sassy-mouth child. Who in their right mind would join this coaching staff? What skilled and talented coach worth their weight in BSC championships would come be a part of an organization where Dumb, Dumber, and Are You Kidding Me? have more clout than the Offencive Coordinator?
Yeah folks there is trouble in Dixie and it's spelled C-O-N-S-I-S-T-A-N-C-Y! And both teams need to find heap of it and fast.
