Whether this blog will have any kind of response or not, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it will. Instead of blogging about my team, or any particular team, this one is about NFL fans. I have read several blogs all season long, from one team to another. I have posted my opinions in blogs as well as my own blog such as this one. For the most part I have seen and read some informative blogs, as well as added my own comments.
However, with that being said, I also have seen some where some fans of other teams come in and start making crude comments, bashing a particular team they don't like, and what have you. There are also some fans who are so rabid and infatuated with their team, that they make these ungodly suggestions of what a particular coach should or should not do. Play someone at risk of further injury, calling this player certain names because he cannot play. I see no sense in calling a team names, such as Cowgirls, Gnats, Gayskins, Beagles, or whatever. What's the purpose , other than infuriating that teams fans and having virtual fights in a blog? Entertainment? I hesitate to call that entertainment. If things were said and done in an atmosphere where other people knew that it was all in jest, then fine. But, I cannot see how one can read another's emotions in text, or is able to tell when another is only joking, without having to actually say they are.
Knowing what avatar I have on, everyone who reads this will know who my team is. But, guess what? I also watch other teams play, for the simple fact I love football. I love the game, period. I can sit and watch Detroit play the Bengals, or Tampa Bay play the Texans. I can gripe about what my team did or didn't do, but why should I "advise" the coaches of what I think they did wrong, when the odds of them reading my blog is slim to none, and slim being out of town? If the Cowboys lose to the Giants this Sunday, I could give you all kinds of reasons for it. But, will that stop the sun from coming up the next morning? These people are supposedly "professional" and they should know what to do. But, so does the other team and their coaches...
The purpose of these blogs are for expressing opinions, and maybe even make a friend or three. Discussing things such as the last game. But , to fight and call names to other people and teams? Sometimes these things can be funny, but often enough, they're serious. A lot of haters out there, for some reason or another, and it appears that showing this hate for a team to this teams fans, is some kind of odd pleasure.
When Hurricane Ike hit this area, we evacuated to a shelter. I met a National Guardsman who was a Redskins fan. The Cowboys played the Eagles that night and he was pulling for the Eagles. He didn't care much for the Cowboys, and that's his perogative. But, we had some good natured needling going on, and after it was all said and done, we became friends. We continued to chat during our stay there, and was no harm done, or hatred shown, because we both knew it is only a GAME. The more important thing is we survived the hurricane and made a few friends as well.
Maybe one day these games will be kept in perspective.

Talking trash and goading the opposing teams fans are a time honored football tradition. If you are looking for civility maybe you should start watching the Kentucky Derby or Ice Skating.

There's the first hater. What took you so long? Blogs are not time honored traditions dude. Not in any sport. Maybe you should go to a fight and see if a hockey game will break out or something.

I'll address this, from the perspective of being a (lifelong) Redskins fan.
On my fan page for ESPN.com, I have friends who are Cowturd fans. WE can sit and have a meaningful discussion (and good-natured fun) concerning our dislikes of each other's team. PART of that, is because ESPN.com's policy concerning behavior is far MORE strict than FN's.
I speak from the experience of having MY account (temporarily) suspended by ESPN for stepping (slightly) over the line during "Dallas Week" LAST year.
You invite contempt with that dumbass avatar of Romo. Case closed. Deal with REALITY, jackoff!!!

~~Laffin~~ Such language! Pray tell, why do you call me such things? Have I irritated the great DC Sports Nut? Do you not have another life other than chasing blogs and calling people who you know not names such as what you called me?
I can see why you were suspended. It's evident you don't like being censored so that you can do as DC Sports Nut wants to, without any repercussions. I have a feeling you were weaned too early when you were a child, because your attitude really sucks, junior. I won't even bother commenting on your avatar. It would be a waste of time anyway. You probably can count on one finger all of your so called "cowturd" friends. Most real Cowboy fans would have you already censored anyway. *shaking head* What a pity you made such an impression on people who will read your ramblings. You impressed me not, my friend. Not one iota, other than you know some filthy names to call someone you don't know. Here's to you, clyde. Have a good one.

Oh, while I'm at it, I just checked out your profile, DCSN. It seems to be "closed to strangers". ~~Laffin~~I wonder if this "cowturd" you mentioned is able to see who and what you are? I really couldn't care less about anything of you, because , as I said, you left me the impression that I don't care to know you. So, you have a nice life, clyde, and maybe one day you'll learn how to relate to other people, especially "strangers".

As interactive technology continues to flourish and we are increasingly connected via electronics, we are actually more and more isolated. Face to face interaction i fading and is replaced with tinny little speaker voices and abbreviated text messages. Personal communication requires ground rules that include courtesy and patience. As we interact less and less on a personal level, the old ground rules are abandoned and what would never work before, becomes the rule of the day. Lambasting each other online is kinda like the privacy that rude drivers feel they have in the cocoon of their car. Maybe as we grow into the new connective technologies, we'll learn that courteous is better. Go Cowboys!
