As Jose Reyes takes a pause in his 2k8 Xbox video game and David Wright has a night off from his Don Juan lifestyle they turn on MLB on Fox and see that the 2008 World Series Champions are in fact their rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies. As if the team's morale wasn't shot and left for dead already they have to watch the Joker to their Batman win it all. Im sure everyone including David Wright will say "I don't think about last year, only this year!" and Fred and Jeff Wilpon will speak about new Citi Field, how beautiful it is and the great future of their Mets. In front of the camera its all good, but like a duck in water its calm on the outside but underneath it's uncontrollable panic!
But at the end of the day the man with the power, the head boss who went from needs to a must to change this team mind set is Omar Minya. In my opinion this win by the Phillies has just made Mr. Minya more determined then ever to get the best of the best no matter at what cost. Not making the playoffs in back to back seasons on the last day of the season and watching the Phillies win the division for two years in a row, and now this World Series win is the cherry on top of the Mets melting ice cream! This changes everything, I have said the Mets wouldn't go after Manny or K-Rod and get the less expensive Brian Fuentes and Raul Ibanez or Eric Byrnes or maybe even a trade for Matt Holiday. I change my mind, he will go into this offseason with an agenda that he must make a few splashes. He will go into the winter meetings doing belly flops! Now with out doubt I believe Manny will be a Met and even maybe CC Sabathia. The gloves are off, the pressure is on, I don't think it's smart but we might see three of the top five A list free agents in orange and blue by this winter. So thanks Phillies! You just might have awakened a half asleep giant...

No matter who the Mets sign they will not be a true force in the NL East until 2015 or later. The Marlins, Phillies, Braves and even the Nats will always be to much for a team like the Mets. As the Phillies have proven this year chemistry of the team is far more important than any individual players stats. Omar is a horrible GM. He knows stats but is ignorant to how to build a winner. Wilpon is just as ignorant. He thinks like the Yankees, just spend more! I really feel sorry for you Mets fans. Maybe you'll have your championship but I wouldn't hold my breath.
