First I'd like to congratulate the Philadelphia Phillies and their fans for winning the World Series.

Rumors in MLB are starting to heat up. I thought I'd see what others are thinking and how they wold help their teams.

Update: Mike Jacobs(1b) from the Florida Marlins was traded to the K.C. Royals for (RP) Leo Nunez.

1) The lastest out of Milwaukee is that the Brewers will offer C.C. Sabathia a 4 year $100M.  Still others feel that another team or teams might even go higher. The Yankees, Angels, and Dodgers were mentioned.

MY OPINION: This is too much money for any starting pitcher.  He will only pitch once every 5th day and that kind of money could be put to better use to get everyday players.  Although most teams will need pitching, for me, I'd rather use the money on 2-3 power hitters that could make a team more productive.

2) The Jake Peavy trade changes by the day.  The strongest suitor so far has been the Atlanta Braves.  Although even those talks have stalled at the moment.  It seems like the Padres are asking for 5 players in return and at least one player that the Braves won't trade.

MY OPINION: No one is worth 5 players for one.  Peavy ended last year with a losing record (10-11).  He also had elbow problems and missed some starts.  Now, I do think he can still pitch and be effective, however, his agent (Scott Boras) wants to treat him as a free agent and wait to see what C.C. Sabathia gets.  I think he will end up staying with the Padres.

3) It appears that Juan Pierre and Andruw Jones of the LA Dodgers have both expressed their desires to be traded (through the media).  Andruw Jones will make $18M in his final year of a 2 year deal,  Juan Pierre is in the 3rd year of a burdensome 5 year deal. Both have been big disappointments and may be hard to trade.

MY OPINION: With the way Andre Ethier has played lately as a full time starter, I think the best either of them can expect is to be coming off the bench or a trade.  Of course, if the Dodgers re-sign Manny Ramirez, they would certainly try to trade one or both.  First choice for me would be Jones.  Even if he lost weight and got into shape, his performance was atrocious last year.

That's it for now, let me know what you think and whom you feel could help your team next year.
