Coach Mark Richt was asked this week about the implications for this year's edition of the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.
Here is what he said: "The three times that we've represented the Eastern Division we were not able to beat Florida, and then we've beaten them twice and not represented the East. In regards to the Southeastern Conference Championship and the ability to play in that game it hasn't been the difference quite frankly. This year, it's going to be the difference, and I think for that reason it is the biggest one."
The biggest one indeed - too bad the coaches clamped down on the players this week in an effort to limit bulletin board material, which could have been especially fun after last year's excessive celebration penalty by Georgia.
There is plenty of hype, however, about the game - and for good reason. This is only the fifth time in the rivalry's history that both teams have been ranked in the Top 10, having split the previous four match-ups.
The winner will have a clear path to Atlanta - and with all due respect to Penn State, let's get real, if the winner of this game runs the rest of their schedule and emerges victorious vs. Alabama to win the SEC Championship Game . . . Georgia or Florida one will deserve a shot at the BCS title game.
