It wasn't pretty, heck it wasn't even on TV, had to listen to it the old fashion way, on the radio. The Cats didn't do anything in the first half, yet only trailed 7-0 and with Randall Cobb starting for the first time this year at QB, at least the Cats were within striking distance. UK got the ball to open the second half and the freshman QB marched the team on a nine play, 53 yard scoring drive, as Cobb scored on a 5 yard run, to tie up the score at 7. The Cats next scoring drive came on an impressive 12 play, 82 yard drive, late in the quarter, with two plays turning out to be key factors in keeping the drive alive. The first was a fake punt on a fourth and one from the UK 27 yard line, that gained 2 yards and the other was a pass interference on a third down and 7. A 3 yard TD pass from Cobb to Maurice Grinter put the Cats up 14-7. But the Cats can't do anything easy, after a three and out by the Bulldogs, Uk fumbled the ball and MSU recovered inside UK's 35 yard line just as the fourth quarter was starting. 4 plays later, MSU scores on a 10 yard pass play, as MSU tries the PAT, it is blocked by Matt Roark, to make the score 14-13, with just under 14 minutes to play. UK's defense then stiffened up and didn't allow the MSU offense anywhere near field goal range. A last ditch Hail Mary pass was intercepted and the Wildcats held on for their sixth victory of the season. It is the third six win season in a row for the Cats, something that hasn't been done since 1954..'55 and '56. It also makes UK bowl eligible for the third year in a row, something that hasn't been done since 1950..'51 and '52. But the Cats need another win to assure themselves of another bowl trip. I know the UK Wildcats are not Florida or LSU, and as Cats fans, we don't expect them to be. All we expect is a winning season and a trip to a low-level bowl, not much to ask, maybe one day we can say we belong with the likes of Florida or LSU, but as of right now, we are just happy we are winning more than we are losing and I have seen my share of losing seasons. I have been a season ticket holder for the last 15 years and I have seen more losses than wins. I was there when UK beat Georgia a couple of years ago and we stormed the field, I still have the stadium grass from where the winning TD run came from. I was there when LSU threw up that miracle pass that beat UK in the final seconds as the fireworks were going off and the players were drowning the coach in gatorade bath. I've seen the heart ache and I've seen the jubulation, and I have enjoyed it all, the ups and the downs, for I am a UK WILDCAT FAN.
