I just read an article that said as a summary....that USC's non-stoppable recruiting has caused the destruction of all the other pac-10 teams & in turn has hurt itself in the BCS standings because it's conference SUCKS!!!!
This is very interesting to me...because I understand & somewhat agree that this could be the case of what has happened to the pac-10.....it is a good arguement!! I am always amazed that theseplayers who would be starters on any other team...sit on the bench @ 2nd or even 3rd stringers on USC!!!! But my own opinion is that it takes a SPECIAL Person to know that he could go somewhere else & be a star......but they choose to fight with the best & learn by having to compete for their spot everyday with the very best!!!!!!!
But, on the other hand.......Shouldnt the pac-10 teams be held accountable for their own recruiting!!! There are always AMAZING players from all over the country that dont get to play...it seems we always have NEW / GREAT talent that comes up & takes the place of those who have gone before!! FIND THEM!!!!! CULTIVATE THEM!!! Even average players with a lot of heart & determination can become GREAT players!!!
What I like about Coach Carroll is that we "win forver" ...... I think his philosophy is to teach great fundamentals of life on & off the field & even when we lose!!!! ha!! I'm sure the team is dissappointed with their rank...but tough **** said the kitty when the milk went dry!! You cant control the pac-10 or any other team or conference...or even the polls or the BCS computers!! What you can control is your work ethic..........& I refuse to believe that coach carroll intentionally wants to hurt anyones recruiting chances!
It's only about 4 more weeks in the reg season....good luck to everyone's teams!!!

The blame does not lie with USC b/c a good team and coaching staff should do everything they can to win except cheat (which USC hasn't perceivably done).
The blame lies with the fans of the rest of the Pac 10 schools. Maybe the fans at USC are better than the rest of the Pac 10 b/c they're winning, but they're still better fans b/c I rarely see a fan of another Pac 10 school on this website. Call it a west coast laid-back mentality, but these fans should be clammorring for a winning coach but it is not happening. Frankly, the fans do not care enough about college football. You take the SEC and Big 12, on the other hand, and you've got crazy college football fans which in turn drives that sport at each academic institution (I'll let you make your own inferences as to why the people in those parts are so football crazy). My point is that the fans need to step it up, and it looks like USC's fans are the only ones willing to do so.

They have become so strong that they have almost made the PAC-10 boring. Why? I have no idea. California is the largest state of the lower 48 and there are more than 85 great athletes in that state or the surrounding states for that matter. UCLA, Cal, Oregon etc, should be pulling players with as much quality as USC. That conference is a real puzzle.

This is a very interesting read and something I had never thought of. I do agree with "How 'bout 'em" though that a program should do everything in their power to win, save for cheat. Having said that, it's very likely that top recruits who ultimately choose USC would migrate to schools outside of the Pac-10 if it weren't for coach Carroll, considering the cream of the crop tends to end with them out West. Great post.

You also take fans of different institutions like Miami, Ohio St., FSU, Michigan, Penn St., and Clemson; they have good fans that want to win too. Many of the other schools in the ACC and Big 10 seem to be basketball schools or "smarty pants" schools.

Interesting post. I admit I'm not a USC fan, but to say that because USC is a great football program that guys want to go to is a problem for the conference is just crazy talk. Maybe the other Pac 10 schools need to do a better job of selling their programs. USC does a great job of that.
