Hey now everyone. The 2008 election is now history, and boy what history it set. Whether one supported or voted against Obama, it is impossible to recognize the significance of this election. With a resounding victory in electoral votes and over four million more ballots in the popular vote, Barack Obama will become the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009.

You can read my thoughts on the significance of this election here at Helium... and if you'd like to say something about the article, love it or hate it, feel free to come right back to this FanNation post to leave your comments...

Loved the article. As a Canadian Obama supporter, it was truly beautiful what you wrote. I can only dream to have research skills and flowing language like you.

Would you like him to move up there? I'd gladly give him to you.

Please. The US needs him, but our alternatives are crap, crap, and people who have no chance of winning.

Good article Bigalke

November 6, 2008  06:29 PM ET

Well said Bigalke

While I am not an Obama supporter, I truly feel privileged to have witnessed history being made Tuesday night. It's inspiring to see the transformation America has made within the last 60 years.

Great job, Bigalke.

I, too, did not vote for Obama... but I completely agree with your sentiments. Both my wife and I support third-party candidacy on principle, but to see the gracious concession by a dedicated government official in McCain and Obama's deferential acceptance put chills up both our spines. Love him or hate him, the country has a new president around which to go forward into the coming decade...

He's talking about BigAlke. Not Obama.

And don't worry, Zach... Nader will get 'em next time!

Even Bigalke would make a much better prime minister than Harper/unknown Liberal.

November 6, 2008  10:27 PM ET

Actually, that last comment sounded condescending towards Bigalke. It should say ESPECIALLY Bigalke would make a much better PM than Harper/not Dion.

I don't know. Canada is communist and Bigalke's a socialist. I don't think it would work out.

Zach you worked at Eagle Ridge? Crazy to think you might have actually cooked one of my meals for me....When living in Illinois, growing up, I quite frequently golfed there...stopping in to eat here and there after our rounds....

Your article...good piece. Its Americans like you that make our country thrive on our founding beliefs. While you may not have voted for Obama, you understand the big picture. Some few fail to recognize...

I have a question concerning the use of African American when refering to President Elect Obama. I am not attenpting to be funny here just want a realistic answer and haven't been able to find it. If Obama's dad was an African from the country of Kenya and his mother was a causcasian from the United States, how exactly is he an African American. This is a serious question. In my state 1/32 makes an American Indian eligible for a royalty check from our local casino's although they are 31/32 of another race. Is there some percentage besides the fact that he is 50/50 that makes him an African American? Serious answers only, please.

While I'm waiting for an anwer I'm going to Google ethnicity. If I find the answer I'll post. By the way, this has no bearing on his potential in my opinion. He is our future CINC and I will support him. Just curiuos about the labels people like to use.
