When the NBA season kicked off, I couldn't be more excited. The Re-Deem Team set the interest level high. This new batch of talented youngsters made it clear that the NBA was no country for old men. I think Shaq got the message first and quickly announced his retirement. I watched the first Denver Nuggets game, saw my favorite guard, Allen Iverson, the Answer. he looked a little sluggish, although he dropped 30. I was wondering if after all these years of taking a beating if the little guy was getting old. He doesn't think so. Neither does Joe Dumars. In a conversation last night with Stephan A. Smith, Iverson said he'd still dominate a 21 year old player, that the fire still burns inside of him. I thought about when Iverson game into the league and was battling Michael Jordan. Taking it to MJ. Number 23 got exposed of being a step slow. The new regime had entered with something to prove. The Answer is, maybe not yet but basketball is not an age defying sport. I consider Allen Iverson to be one of the best finishers in the game of basketball. This one-time face of the Philadelphia franchise is now a ... journeyman, still looking for his first title. An answer I don't think even the Answer can produce.
