Celtics 101 Bucks 89
Boston, Ma - The celtics once again came out sluggish. Early going Richard Jefferson was absoluetly on fire hitting his first 6 shots from the floor. He came out and scored at will in the opening minutes. The bucks playing without Michael Redd needed a boost and found one.
After the 1st Quarter the Bucks had a 7 point lead 30-23
Garnett provided a early spark plug with a few thunderous dunks to get the quiet crowd into the game. Momentum seemed to follow as the intensity of the defense picked up helping the Celtics get some easy buckets.
With an outstanding 2nd quarter by the Celtics (32-17), they took a 8 point lead into Halftime.
With the second half starting the same continued with a sloppy Celtics team. Turning the ball over, and giving easy layups. Rajon Rondo got pulled for Eddie House for lack of hustle, and you could tell Doc wasnt happy at all.
Kendrick Perkins set a career high in blocks with 7 total at 5 mins to go in the 3rd Quarter. Good to see another nice performance by Perkins. He's improved his interior defense so far this season, making Boston one of the better defenses in the NBA.
After a Paul Pierce layup with 41 second's left to play in the 3rd Q, Perkins sitting on the bench got hit with a technical foul.
The bucks won the 3rd Quarter cutting into Boston's lead (23-20) - Boston takes a 75-70 lead heading into the Final Quarter.
With 10:43 in the 4th, Tony Allen putting hard pressure on the ball stole a pass and took it in for a slam! One big play followed by a Rajon Rondo layup on a fastbreak putting the Celtics up 82-72, forcing the Bucks to take a quick timeout.
Andrew Bogut picked up his 5th foul sending the big man to the bench to what may just be for good.
9:15 left Leon Powe started a huge fastbreak with the Celtics 11th blocked shot of the game, with Pierce finding Tony Allen ahead of the pack, Allen dished it back to a sprinting Leon Powe for a huge two handed dunk! (Celtics 86-75)
A few moments later Pierce picked up his 7th assist with a dump pass down low to Powe for a easy 2 points giving Boston a 15 point lead.
A hustle play (which we call a tommy point) by Big Baby finds Eddie House streaking for an easy layup opening up the lead to 18.
Kevin Garnett is sub'd out with 4:42 left, and replaced by Brian Scalabrine (this is when we know the game is well in hand)
Billy Walker the rookie from Kansas State finally see's his first minutes of the year, coming off the bench at the 3:30 mark. 3 possesions for Walker shows 1 missed shot, and 1 turnover forcing the action, but then hit a jumper on the right baseline.
The Final score Boston 101 - 89
