Now I'm a die hard A's fan, I go to about 15 games a year. You would think I would be estatic over my A's aquiring Matt Holliday from Colorado. But the fact is, I'm not. I don't understand this trade at all from the A's standpoint.

Here's a rundown of how Holliday tenure is going to go in Oakland. He'll come, bring media attention for the first few weeks or so and then that will pass. If the A's surprise me and everyone else in the league and are in serious contention around the all-star break then, they will get as much as they can out of Holliday and then watch him sail away to the Yankees, Mets, Angels, or Cubs at the end of the year and get their two composation pick, and go  back to sucking. But if what I believe will happen, the A's will be about 7-10 games behind Anaheim at the all-star break, then the A's will make a deadline deal that will send him away to some team in contention and grab as many prospects as they can, so they can trade those prospects away in a few years. Ahh... yes that is the endless ****-cycle that is the Oakland Athletics.

What really pisses me off is that they got rid of Carlos Gonzalez for Holliday. Colorado fans you mark my words, Gonzalez is a future superstar. I have seen very few players who have as much potential that he does.

In the end Holliday's run with the A's will end the same way so many former have (Jason Giambi, Ramon Hernadez, Miguel Tejada, Eric Byrnes, Mark Mulder, Tim Hudson, Barry Zito, Jason Isringhausen, Johnny Damon, Jermaine Dye, Chad Bradford, Scott Hatteberg, David Justice, Ray Durham, Carlos Pena, Aaron Harang, Ted Lilly,  Jose Guillen, Rich Harden, Keith Foulke, Mark Kotsay, Nick Swisher, Joe Blanton, Octavio Dotel, Arthur Rhodes, Jason Kendall, Jay Payton, Dan Haren, Milton Bradley, Esteban Loaiza, Chad Gaudin, and Shannon Stewert).

I couldn't agree more from the A's end of things, and I hope for our sake in CO that Gonzalez is, as you say, a future superstar. Here's a view of things from my point of view, as a Rockies fan:

RollOnBears, you are so right....Its seems like such on odd thing for Billy to do, especially since CGonzalez was initially thought of as the true gem in the Haren deal. And not that Greg Smith was a savior, but a rotation of Duke, Eveland, Braden, Gio Gonzalez and ??? means that they are going to have to score a ton of runs to win ballgames, which they obviously didn't do last year
