WILD FAN

This was the game of the week in the SEC, yeah..yeah, all you Bama and LSU fans out there will say something different, but for the shear pleasure of just watching a football game, this was it. The Kentucky Wildcats can play with any team in the country, winning those games have always been a problem, but Saturday, UK was poised to do that again. The Bulldogs had jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Cats were right back into it in the second quarter and scored 14 of their own, to tie it up and at the half trailed 21-14. With the second half under way the Cats put together two scoring drives that resulted in a field goal and touchdown to go ahead 24-21. Georgia comes back with an 80 yard drive that takes over 4 minutes off the clock and goes back on top 28-24 as the quarter comes to an end. UK's first possesion of the fourth quarter finds the Cats retaking the lead as the UK running game starts to grind out the yards as they score on a 15 yard run by running back Tony Dixon, to make the score 31-28. On the ensuing kick-off, the ball is kick out of bounds and Georgia takes it on the 40, Matt Stafford, the Georgia QB, throws a strike of 40 yards to wide-out A.J. Green and on the next play, Knowshon Moreno goes in from 20 yards out  and the Dawgs are back on top 35-31. On the kick-off its almost returned for a TD as Winston Guy gets tackled at the 4 yard line after a 96 yard return. QB Randall Cobb takes it in a couple of plays later and UK is back on top 38-35, with just over 12 minutes to go in the game. The two teams slug it out for another 10 minutes as neither team gives up another score...until. UK punts the ball and has Georgia deep in its own zone, at their 15 yard line, Stafford throws to Mohamed Massaquio on a 10 yard route that turns out to be a 68 yard run also as he's finally tackled inside the UK 15 yard line and on the next play Stafford again goes to the air and finds Green in the back of the end-zone to put Georgia back on top 42-38, with under 2 minutes to go in the game. UK wasn't about to give up as they take the kick-off almost to mid-field and are with-in the 20 yard line with 45 seconds to go, but an ill-advised screen pass by the UK freshman QB is intercepted by Bulldog Demarcus Dobbs, preserving the 42-38 victory. Thats why this game was the game of the week in the SEC.
UK showed alot of heart again in this game, there were bowl reps. there scouting the Cats and I believe they didn't go away empty handed. Any bowl that invites UK to it will have the loyal fans who follow them there in droves, thats one thing Kentucky fans do well, we follow our team, as all SEC fans do, that why SEC fans are the best in the nation.
UK may have a diamond in the rough with freshman QB Randall Cobb, yeah his mistake cost us the game , but without him, this game would have been worse. The Cats ran for, yes ran for 226 yards against a very good Bulldog defense, the passing game of UK needs a little work with only 105 yards passing, but that will come in time. The defense of UK's finally bent a little too much this week, giving up over 500 yards and too many big plays, but in their defense, they are really banged up and Trevard Lindley, who would have been on Massaquio on that 78 yard pass play, was on the sidelines with a sprained quad muscle, so who knows what would have happened if he was in on that play ?? That's why you play the game for 60 minutes.

                               Final Score:

                                Georgia Bulldogs..42
                              Kentucky Wildcats..38  (6-4  2-4)
