Oh man, it's hard to believe that Chauncey Billups is no longer a Piston. The trade for Allen Iverson that sent Billups to Denver helps the Pistons in multiple ways. But how much will it hurt them? How long will it take a team to adjust to their new point guard? How will they get used to playing with a scoring point guard rather than a more balanced, and controlled point guard? It will definitely affect their overall gameplay and their style. Will the players enjoy this new type of style? Will they hate it? Will they hate it to the point they want to play for another team? So many questions, but so few answers. We will just have to wait until the season moves forward I guess.
One thing that really will make things different for the Pistons is that for the past 5 years they have played together as a team. This could be seen the most when they won the NBA finals in 2004 and went back in 2005. Iverson is a superstar type player. He is used to getting everything done on his own. Sure, he's a nine-time All-Star that has averaged 27.7 points in his career and has won MVP once or twice. But does Detroit need that or someone with a style such as Jason Kidd who can find a way to get the ball to any one of his teammates?
This will be a very interesting year for the Pistons. If Iverson doesn't do so hot, you may see the Pistons as major Free Agent player in the next few years and have a chance to land other great players such as Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and many others. I see McDyess returning to the Pistons just because he enjoys it there and feels comfortable coming off the bench for them.
Overall, we will just have to wait and see for the season to move forward. It's entirely too early to say what Iverson will do as he has only played a few games with the Pistons. I just hope it turns out for the good.

Hey...you're right. This will be interesting. But I think AI will adjust just fine. Once he is comfortable knowing that others are able to step up consistently, he will relax into a different AI that we have become familiar with. Yet, still provide that killing instinct that seems to allow the Pistons to let games slip away.
I think it is a good fit, but if not then oh well, more money to spend in the free agency market and position themselves for a good college pick.

I agree to...Ai is going to have to take some time adjusting to new role players that he is not use to and plus in the long run the pistons can get another good player because the CAP will be in a good place to do so! maybe LJ who knows
