Grrrrrrrrr it is really tough to be a Padre fan now.
I have felt for years there were too many teams for too little talent and its time for the Padres to be on the short end of the stick.
Of course it doesn't help that they're trying to trade out or refuse to sign some of their best talent.
First they are trying to trade Peavy whose no trade clause means there's not way he's going to be traded for anything worth his value. Any team who wants to gut themselves Peavy doesn't want to play for, because hey, who want to lose all the time?
Memo to Padres, maybe before deciding to trade a player, you probably don't want to sign him with a no trade clause the year or two before.
And the way they are handling Trevor is atrocious.
He is not what he used to be, but to yank the offer with no counter? Then refuse to meet?
The man is an icon here, you give him the meeting, explain the situation, and if at possible give him one last lap around the league so he can say good bye on his own terms and more importantly: let the fans say goodbye on theirs.
Just think about how many San Diegans would come to Petco to see Trevor/Hell's Bells one last time. Some marketing plans just write themselves, and that's much better than the one they're writing now...

prkeith, from one Padres fan to another, it's time to face the facts. Moores' divorce scenario is destroying what we love. There's no other reason for the treatment of Trevor, let alone the determination to deal Peavy. I would never turn my back on my team, and living in New Jersey the abuse from idiot Yankees fans never stops, but I will think long and hard next summer before booking the annual flight to San Diego to see the Padres at Petco Park, let alone bying tickets and dealing with the **** Yankees, Mets, and Phillies fans when the Padres are there. There is no end in sight for this. By next August, Chase Headley might be the most seasoned Padre in the batting order.

At first mention both sides of the Moores claimed the divorce would not affect the Padres since they wanted their child (I believe daughter?) run the franchise. Unfortunately the firesale in progress seems to point the other direction.
Moores has done a lot for the Padres and the city but if there was someone committed to keep the Pads in San Diego it might be the best for all involved for Moores to sell.
Breakups are hard enough, i can't imagine what divorce is like.
