Sunday afternoon I watched the Philadelphia Eagles offense play very poorly against the Bengals, who came into the game with a record of 1 win and 8 losses. Donovan McNabb once again played very badly in the first quarter, but this time he wasn't able to redeem himself by being outstanding in the second, third, and fourth quarters. In fact, he played like a loser in five (5!!!) quarters today, given that the game went into Overtime. Donovan had four (4!!!) turnovers, overthrew some receivers and underthrew some others, and seemed unable to recognize the need to audible when the Bengals defense went into certain pass defense alignments. The offensive line did a pretty good job of pass protection for McNabb, but were unable to open holes for the running game. The one-dimensional offense was not able to score more than 13 points against this sorry Bengals team. The poor play calling by Andy Reid exacerbated McNabb's very mediocre performance. Westbrook, who has been playing hurt, once again showed his limitations, but Reid stubbornly kept him running the ball. He ignored the capable Correll Buckhalter and other backs. All in all, an eminently winnable game ended in a tie. It was very hard to watch....
