ESPN just wrapped up its College Hoops Tip-off Marathon. I planned to catch part of it, to branch out a little bit and try to figure out the whole basketball thing this time around. But I forgot it was on. Oops.
I managed to tear myself away from the Real Housewives of Atlanta marathon long enough to catch the beginning of the Kentucky-UNC game. (Yeah, I totally thought Memphis was supposed to play. Oops.) But the Tarheels went up 15-2 right away so I went back to the drama and hissy fits of the Botoxed elite who have way more money and way less class than I thought possible. I only have so much tolerance for the silliness of "real" housewives, so I switched back to the game for the second half. UNC was still winning.
So I pretty much failed at Attempt to Watch Basketball #56. Maybe 57's the charm? The season's just getting started, so maybe once I log more than 24 minutes, I'll understand a little more.
But so far, here's what I picked up:
- It is not a good year to be a dude named Tyler playing for North Carolina. Hansbrough was already out, and Zeller went down at the end, in case you caught even less of the game than me.
- Kentucky's given up 50 turnovers in 2 games. I know pretty much nothing about basketball, but even I know that turnovers are bad news.
- I'm not as out of shape as I thought I was. I look at least as good, if not better, in a crop top than the UNC dance team. Figuring that out was totally worth skipping strip aerobics to watch the game.
- I'm glad there's still a lot of football left to watch.
