From the Cubs Brickyard: (Chicago, IL) - The Chicago Cubs took care of their top offseason priority yesterday, re-signing starter Ryan Dempster to a four-year, $52 million contract. Dempster finished sixth in NL Cy Young voting after a dominant year for the Cubs.

And after a year like that, you’ve got to have him back, right?

After all, one great year usually translations into continued success. Just ask Carl Pavano. Or Esteban Loaiza. Or, um, Rich Hill.

Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry is thrilled that the team was able to get something done for such a critical player.

It's nice they resigned him but they really need a left handed bat. Hope he can continue to win and earn the money!

Funny and heartbreaking at the same time. Very happy to get Dempster back. Hopefully this season wasn't a fluke. Who knows, maybe Lou should schedule all his starts at home so he can win 30 games next year!!!!

Win 30 games at home next year? You obviously forgot about his embarrassing self destruction at home in the playoffs.
