As a Knicks fan, I personally don't get why we just lost Jamal Crawford, Mardy Collins, and Zach Randolph.
I know President Donnie Walsh wanted to get cap room for the big 2010 free agent class including King James, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, and D-Wade. But he didn't think about one thing.
What if the Knicks sign none of those free agents? These trades were risks that will probably come back to bite the Knicks this season and in the future.
To try to get you to come to Knick games this season, the Knicks have been saying how youthful their team is.
Cuttino Mobley (currently has a heart problem)- 33 years old
Tim Thomas- 31 years old
Al Harrington- 28 years old
They traded youth and got old.
Randolph in the games before being traded, was playing great, getting over 20 points and 15 rebounds.
So I guess his good job present was a plane ticket to Los Angeles. Same with Crawford. "Hey, you're averaging 19 PPG, how's Golden State?
The Knicks traded the two best players on their team for Mobley,Thomas, Harrington. All in the hope of getting big name players they may never get.
Maybe I'm confused, but I didn't and still don't get the point of these deals.

You gamble with a youth movement that might payoff in a few years or you gamble with the fact that arguably the best player in the league finds the Big Apple very enticing? I'm taking the latter, if I'm a Knickerbocker fan I'm excited. The age of Isaiah is coming to a close and a steady improvement is on the horizon. It is a good thing.

There are literally 20 HUGE NBA free agents in 2010 (or players who can opt out by then).
I'm sure you guys will find someone.

I have been a suffering knicks fan and i support walsh's move. we WILL get big names. the proble, I see is extending lee, robinsons contract and having enough cap room to attract 1-2 big names. wilson chandler is good, and will only get better, richardson is hot right now. we have 3 good young plaes in lee, robinson, and chandler. duhon is decent. i think we will still have a good season and i hope that the new 3 will mesh in well. getting rid of crawford and his horrible defense is fine with me. randolph was good and getting better withouth crawford there but at the end there wont be much of a difference. the knicks will win tops 32+/- games. the good thing will be that chandler will develop and harrington may be a good addition. i am hoping they get rid of marbury and curry soon.

There building for the future
I see why they made these deals
Look at the players that are draft eligable next year, theresa ton of talent just waiting to be picked
However, James is stayin in Cleveland and Amare never cared for Mike
Next year I could see them signing Ben Gordon, but thats just me
