The original blog is here. I posted it in the "We need a playoff for FBS football!", but fannation does not want to post those blogs up in public space for some reason. I've tried messaging the support staff on the site, but they did not do anything about it.
Sorry for the technical difficulties. Here's what it said:
Which one loss team should inherit the Big 12 South and thus the other spot in the BCS championship game? (Is it just me, or does anyone else get annoyed distinguishing between regular BCS games and the BCS championship game?) Does Oklahoma get the Big 12 South nod with a win over Oklahoma St. b/c they had the biggest blow out against one of the three and the best out of conference schedule? Does Texas Tech get the nod b/c they spent all that time at #1? What about Texas? They barely lost to Texas Tech and beat mighty Oklahoma.
I know that in my playoff idea, an 8 team playoff with only conference champions, it would be just as hard to distinguish between the three teams to potentially select their conference's automatic bid, but a playoff would keep the controversey to a minimum by having 7 other deserving teams in the title hunt instead of 1 other team. The controversial focus would be divided in other words. Having a playoff based on conference champions alone would also iron out any kinks in determining a conference title b/c any controversey would be localized to that conference instead of the whole nation. And we all know how much we love to argue conference supremacy.
In the past few years, the BCS has gotten lucky (except for a few notable years). The BCS will not always be as lucky, and a playoff will happen.
I'm guessing that Oklahoma wins the Big 12 South b/c of the recency effect. I just want the team that is most likely to beat Florida win the Big 12 South. The way Oklahoma's defense handled Texas Tech's spread offense was very encouraging, but Oklahoma's recent failure in the BCS games is not very encouraging. Roll Tide too!
[Now that I see that Texas is #2, I know that the #2 ranking for any Big 12 South team is meaningless until the Big 12 itself crowns their South champion.]

That doesn't work either - blog is a private blog.

I have no idea why that blog would be private b/c the group is open to the public for viewing. I also looked at the "blog preferences" of the group's blog and the "preferences" of the group, but I didn't see where I could make the blog public.
I'm sure you would've ripped it apart, Prove it. I'm still meaning to get around to that blog you wrote too.

I believe you are posting it in a private group, which makes the blog private.
If that's not the reason, I have no idea why.

1. If it was researched and addressed the downside, I would have treated it fairly (it is the downside that prevents a playoff)

Heck, I would love to be proven wrong on the issue. I even just sent someone your way to join your group. i don't know if he wants to thank me or kill me (probably the latter)
2. Hey - weren't you the one who called me out on the topic and challenged m to write a blog?
That is so sad dude.

The group is viewable to the public, and that is the only option I have seen to make it private/public.

Yeah, my blog mainly talks about the upsides of having a playoff with another "BCS controversey" happening; it doesn't address any downsides of it.
Heheh, I'm not the fastest reader, so I'd need to set aside some time for that behemoth.
Thank you very much.

When you click on any blog, you get the message
This is a private blog post. You may need to sign in to view it.
Try the logging out and going to blog approach.
I think once the group was made private, anything posted inside was also made private.
You might try posting the blog the same way you posted this one.

Limiting a playoff to conference champs alone exasperates the downside of a playoff vs. the current structure, but that is a blog, not a comment.
The way the big 12 picks their division champ is a Big 12 issue.
I think they are nuts for using the BCS ranking - handing the decision over to the coaches and pollsters (most outside the B12 and the region) and some computers.
I would prefer they put the decision in the hands of the people who know these teams best - a vote by the other coaches in the Big 12. If there is an integrity question in the voting of the coaches, that too is a Big 12 issue to be resolved internally.
In the end, I really don't care how they settle the issue. They can flip a coin, have a cheerleader pie fight, have the coaching staffs sumo wrestle in pudding on PPV for all I care.
...but by no means is this an argument for a playoff. This is entirely a Big 12 issue which shouldn't require the rest of the nation to modify their post season structure to resolve.
If they find problems with the structure, they can change it at any time within the NCAA guidelines, without effecting the rest of the country.
