Roll the dice: Oklahoma or Texas - Your call!
Roll the Dice -
I couldn't sleep last night. Too many scenarios were running through my head about the Big 12 South. I needed to write it down to figure it out.
Fact :
Texas beat Oklahoma by 10.
Texas Tech beat Texas by 6.
Oklahoma Beat Texas Tech by 44.
Texas - OU played on a neutral field in TEXAS.
Texas Tech played Texas in Lubbock.
OU beat Texas Tech in Norman.
All teams have one loss on the year to each other.
There is one week left in the regular season.
Seems pretty even if you aren't biased. Hard to decide.
I'm from Texas but go to school at OU. I get it both ways. I see how great a season all three have had, but someone is going to get screwed here.
Here is what Bob Stoops said after destroying Texas Tech: "If you can't move us in front of Texas because they beat us, then you have to keep Texas Tech in front of Texas," Stoops said, but he wasn't done there. Next up was a shot at one-loss Florida. "If you're going to forgive a team for losing at home to an unranked team because they're playing well now, well, we're playing pretty well now, too. If it's logical for someone else, it's logical for us."
Texas Tech Mike Leach said he would put the Sooners ahead of the Longhorns in his USA Today's coaches poll vote.
And what does Texas say about this mess? Nothing. They are too busy preparing for their Thanksgiving game vs. Texas A&M. They won't start lobbying until they win that game.
Here are the scenarios now:
OU wins the Big 12 South if they beat Oklahoma State and the voters give them the nod and the computers look at their whole body of work. What would help is an A&M win over UT.
UT wins the Big 12 South if they beat Texas A&M and the voters give them the nod and the computers look at their whole body of work. What would help is an Oklahoma State win over OU.
Texas Tech wins the Big 12 South if they beat Baylor and OU losses at Oklahoma State. They would get the nod over Texas because they beat them head to head. Maybe!
Bottom line. It's all up for grabs.
Oh and don't forget that USC has one loss and Penn State has one loss, Florida could loss to Florida State and then beat Alabama for the SEC. Nothing will be settled this week, but it may be clearer when the BCS polls come out. I can't wait till next weekend! I guess writing it down didn't help.
Here are a few numbers from OU's win over Texas Tech.
1 - The number of series that Heisman hopeful Sam Bradford played in the 4th quarter of the OU - Texas Tech contest. By then the game was officially over and Bradford had tossed 4 TDs, gained 309 yards in the air, on only 19 pass attempts!!!
3 - The number of teams (3) with one loss in the Big 12 South. each team, Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma all have one loss. Let the lobbying begin!
60 - The number of victories (60) that Bob Stoops' Sooners have tallied in Norman during Stoops' tenure as OU's head coach. Big Game Bob has amassed a 60-2 record at home. Did anyone really thin that Texas Tech's unbeaten record was going to last if they had to go through Oklahoma?
65 - The number of points (65) the Sooners scored vs. Texas Tech. Two days after Tech's men's basketball team broke a school record for most points scored in a game with 167, the football team broke a school record for most points allowed in a game with 65.
125 - The number of yards (125) gained by DeMarco Murray on 18 carries. Murray stuffed it into the end-zone twice on Saturday.
85,646 - The number of fans (85,646) that packed Owen Field to watch the Sooners destroy the #2 team in the nation. What's devastating here is that for all the Red Raiders did this season, beating Texas, beating Oklahoma State, they will be sent to the Holiday Bowl or some other non-meaning Bowl. WE NEED A PLAYOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Note: For all the scoring that went on, it must be noted that Texas Tech held the ball longer than OU. A whole minute to be exact. Meaning that OU scored and scored quickly.

Blah,Blah,Blah...Tech won on the last play with no time on the clock,on a pass thrown behind the receiver to the sideline.Luck, luck and more luck...we dropped a ball that should have ended the game just before that...AND we played teams in the top 11 four weeks in a row before the lucky pass with no time. And oh yeah,"45-35"....Enough said.

I'm a Sooner fan (from Texas) but I agree that Texas did get hosed. OU would have been hosed had they not gotten the nod too. It's unfortunate either way. Texas fans should keep in mind that they can end up with the last laugh. If they win their bowl game and Oklahoma loses theirs, Texas ends the season with the bragging rights.
