With with few offers and hestitancy of the dodgers and Giants to make a competive offer, CC sabthia may decide as early as this week to take  the yankee's reocrd setting offer. The final numbers can be north of the 6 years 140 million.  The brewers who have made an offer for either 100 million over five of less, matters who you ask, don't have the power the yankee's have of being a playoff contender every year.  Though he won't get to bat much, the Yankees are a great fit for CC, a winning franchise, a stadium more friendly to lefties, large crowds and tv ratings, endorsements, and plenty of choices of nice places to settle into with his wife and two children.  Also if you are familar with Northern California has more in common with New york than does Southern California.  So lets see what develops over the next few days?

If CC wanted the process to end quickly, all he needs to say is that "Ill be making a decision by Nov 30". If the Angels, Dodgers or Giants are interested in signing him, they'll offer him a contract prior to that date.

I am waiting to see if arte Moreno is really really to offer near 140 million for sabathia. For one they won't keep lackey for under a hundred million and have 29 million going towards two center fielders. They need a bat and bullpen help. Is Moreno willing to dig into his own pockets for cc, he isn't pedro in his prime or the best pither in the game. CC makes more sense pitching in yankee stadium with the confines being identical to the old Yankee stadium at time of closing. Plus what will the angels do when the yanks counter, some of us in ny feel the yankee may go up to anywhere fromn 160-190 million. The yanks really don't care, they have been carrying fowards losses of hundreds for millions over the last few years so with new stadium profits and the stadium financing ofset on revenue sharing the yankees ownership could make 250 million plus tax free while the franchise rises in value insanely. The people who criticize the yankee's business model must have big jobs at AIG,Washington Mutual, citi,Bear sterns,Lehman bro's etc. My whole point is Moreno's personal wealth could come in to play if they want to be players for sabathia.

No valid points at all....

The Brewers will be contendors every year because they have legit players at every position and have a minor league still stacked with players. Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart, Mike Cameron, Jason Kendall...all players who have been to the All STar Game...Braun and Fielder have been in the top MVP voting the last two years and Braun won the Rookie of the year award.
Not to mention young stars like Alcides Escobar and Mat Gamel...the Brewers are stacked. We just dont need to flaunt our overwhelmin wealth by overbidding on every free agent.

And how could you say he has more in common with New York? Not only was he born and raised in California, he bought a house, and his whole family lives there...so how does he have more in common with New York?

And honestly you have no idea if the new ballpark will be friendly to lefties...have you played a game in it yet? No.

Money talks. He will sign with the Yanks.

CC wants to be close to home in California. CC wants to be in the NL and hit. He will get more money than he can reasonably spend. He will be set for life even if he doesn't take the highest offer. He wants to win. Therefore I'm betting on the Dodgers.

I am betting on the Brewers because I am biased. But if I wasnt biased, I would say somewhere in California...

peter gammons on the michael kay show wednesday predicts that Sabathia will end up the yankee's, he feels that CC is taking his time to see if any other offers come in around what the yankee's have, but gammons and others don't believe it will come. Its not that sabathia doesn't want to play for the yankee's, there are probably a half dozen teams he would have no problem playing for, and the Yankee's are on that short list.
