Dallas Cowboys Keys to Winning

The keys to winning against the Seahawks are the same for the 49ers.  The Cowboys cannot play down to the Seahawks level and must continue to play with intensity and intelligence.  The Cowboys put away the 49ers when they were limited to a couple of field goals, instead of touchdowns and with the big play.  Cowboys can't look beyond this game towards the Steelers, Giants, Ravens, and Eagles.  They need to continue to play each game like if its a playoff game and every play like if it is their last in order to make a successful run at the gauntlet.

Defensively

The Cowboys need to continue to bring relentless pressure to the opposing teams' quarterbacks and the turnover floodgates will open.  The defense also needs to continue to play discipline, team defense against the run.  The secondary plays decent man coverage and they need to continue to improve zone coverage against the bunch formation that has given them fits throughout the season.  Discipline, Discipline, Discipline!

Offensively

Garrett has improved his play-calling tremendously over the last 2 games because he is forcing defenses to choose their poison.  Even Singletary said in his Monday press conference that if you double T.O. than the other offensive weapons are going to have career days.  Romo cannot have another off-day on the short and intermediate range routes and needs to continue to reduce his turnovers.  He only had 1 against the 49ers and he trusted the RB to pull-a-rabbit-out-of-a-hat, and the lone turnover was a lot better than his previous outings.

Special Teams

The kickoff team needs to continue to be disciplined by hustling down their lanes and not allowing a return past the 20 yard line and the same goes for the punt coverage.  The punt return team finally blocked a punt and now its time for a punt and/or a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Penalties

The Cowboys have improved overall, except in 1 facet of the game and that is penalties.  They continue to commit too many penalties and this will be their achilles' heel that prevent them from making the playoffs or going deep in the playoffs.

Phillips/Coaching staff

Just need to keep the foot on the gas pedal.  This doesn't necessarily mean that the Cowboys need to run-up the score, but for them to continue to play aggressive, smart football.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving and best wishes to all of the members of fannation and their loved ones, and to all of the men and women who have served and are currently serving in the armed forces.

Total Package,
Good work for a late Wednesday afternoon but you have it "upside down" IMHO. What I mean is the long term success lies in Coaching staff and the Turnovers. If the two can "get it together" then the team will appear disciplined and maybe go 3-1 in the month of December. COmmitting a grave sin here in assuming that tomorrow's game is a foregone conclusion. If we lose you know who to blame.

Cheers

The possible NFC wild cards are playing great and it doesn't look like a 10-6 record will get a tema in the playoffs. You're right! The long term success lies on the coaching starr and turnovers. It is not foregone conclusion that the Cowboys will win tomorrow. I stated that Cowboys can't look beyond this game towards the Steelers, Giants, Ravens, and Eagles. I like the blog very much you are perfecting the skill of blogging keep experimenting do.

As I recall, the Boys barely beat the Bengals at home, so they need to be sharp because nobody in the NFL lies down for other teams. Hasselbeck can still be dangerous in spurts and the Seahawks D isnt the worst in the NFL. Great blog!

Yes, as both you and Cassidy said, NO WIN can assumed in the NFL.
The number of TDs and blogs on this site that assume wins in particular games when they are projecting out the season is astounding and misguided.
Football is a TEAM sport is a larger sense than any other major sport. The coaching, systems, schemes and strategies play a HUGE role in the NFL - as compared to MLB, NBA, and the NHL where one deals with a smaller number of players and 'talent' plays the largest role.

Good analysis - and Happy Thanksgiving.

That is so corrcet all of these games are winnable but on the other hand they are all losable so the boys will have to come with there "A" on both sides of the ball i feel the game against Pitts is a key game cause with a win it can be a real big confidence Booster.

This really is their achilles heel and it drives me NUTS! By the way, yet another great blog!

Penalties must be stopped...( Adams) Romo's pinkie feels pretty good, like last week, and continues to throw well i see no problem with the offense, even if they start to jam TO at the line again. Dont forget they have Roy Williams, i think it is about time for him to have a breakout game as a Cowboy.

The secondary plays like it did in the last game (ware and ellis getting to the QB more often) the defense will be fine.

Cassidy is right though Hasselback can be very dangerous. First half should be the tell all who is on and who is not

Plain and simple, Boys need to keep winning. Winning solves everything.

Another good blog.
