Last weekend the Terps were destroyed by Florida State 37-3. Fortunately, they were able to make enough of an impression before the game with defensive end recruit Justin Anderson from South Carolina that they received a verbal committement from him on Monday. Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen offered Anderson a scholarship Monday and later that day Anderson called the Terps coach to let them know that he would be coming to College Park next season. Anderson, a 6′5″ 262lb end chose Maryland over Marshall and Georgia Southern. In a game deemed as the “Blackout” in which all of the fans were encouraged to wear black, Anderson commented on how he loved the atmosphere. One draw to Maryland was Anderson’s friendship with current Terps offensive lineman Stephen St. John. Justin was invited to play in the Shrine Bowl which is an All-Star game between North and South Carolina. It is unclear when he will take his official visit to Maryland, but what is clear is that Anderson has the potential to be a tremendous player for the Terps next year.
