DraftAce College Football Week 14 Review...
Game of the Week: Kansas 40, Missouri 37
It's easy to think maybe Missouri was just looking ahead to the Big 12 Championship Game, but how do you overlook your biggest rival in the regular season finale? Todd Reesing played a brilliant game in the snow, capped off by touchdown pass on 4th-and-7 to Kerry Meier to give the Jayhawks the lead with under a minute remaining. It was great win for Kansas, as it wraps up a 4-4 record in the Big 12. It gives the Jayhawks tremendous momentum heading into their bowl game which hopefully carries over into 2009.
Player of the Week: Jeremiah Johnson RB Oregon
The Ducks rolled into Corvallis and crushed Oregon State's Rose Bowl dreams. Jeremiah Johnson played a large roll rushing for 202 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Johnson helped the Ducks jump out to a big lead, so much so that he was barely needed in the second half. All in all, the Ducks totaled 385 yards rushing against an Oregon State team that hadn't allowed more than 139 rushing yards since week two against Penn State.
Disappointing Team of the Week: LSU Tigers
Is Les Miles on the hot seat just a year after winning the national title? Well his job certainly isn't in danger this offseason, but if the Tigers can't rebound in 2009 he may need to dust off that resume. After climbing to as high as 4th in the AP Poll, LSU won just 3 of their final 8 games and finished with the same conference record as Tennessee.
Draft Related Notes of the Week:
Matthew Stafford gave his draft stock a major boost with a great performance against a very solid Georgia Tech defense. Stafford set career highs in passing yards (407) and touchdowns (5). He's been up and down for much of the season, but it certainly helps that he's ending the season on a high note. Sam Bradford has passed him as the popular choice as the best draft-eligible quarterback, but Stafford still has an excellent shot to be a top five selection.
Michael Crabtree and Percy Harvin were both taken out of their respective games with what appeared to be ankle injuries. I have them rated as the top two draft-eligible wide receivers so, needless to say, these injuries could have a major impact on this year's draft. If either injury lingers, it could cause them to return to school.
Chase Daniel tossed two interceptions in Missouri's loss to Kansas. After throwing 15 touchdowns and just 1 interceptions in his first five games, Chase Daniel was at the top of the Heisman race and was impressing scouts despite his lack of size. Since then, Missouri is just 4-3 and Daniel has thrown 12 interceptions - at least one in every game. His stock has plummeted, and at this point I can't see him coming off the board before the 5th round.
Other Notes for the Week:
The ACC has ten bowl eligible teams. Ten! Even more impressive is that all but two (Virginia and Duke) finished with a .500 conference record or better. It truly was a wild season in ACC. It wasn't always the best football, but it was fun to watch. Unfortunately, now one of those teams has to go to the BCS. Virginia Tech or Boston College in the Orange Bowl? ugh.
You may have noticed I dropped Florida in my poll this week. Why? Their resume took a major hit this weekend. Florida has just one win against a team currently in the top 25 (Georgia). For all we make fun of USC's weak schedule they have a win against a top ten team (Ohio State) and another top 25 team (Oregon). Heck, Utah has more top 25 wins than Florida. The Gators beat up on some bad teams this year to pad their resume. Sure, the Gators are a good team, but let's not give them too much credit yet. I'm not a full believer in the Gators until they knock off Alabama. If they win, they deserve a shot at the title. But if they lose, they will be proven as a complete fraud.

I want to see UF play any of the Big 12 South teams like TTech, OU, OUState and Texas. Something tells me that they wouldn't do so well against those teams. As for the whole crap (not by you, but by most SEC fans) the SEC is NOT the best conference, I'd have to say the Big 12 is, and the ACC is not all that bad either, sure we don't have any OU's or UF's but like you said 10 outta the 12 teams in the ACC are bowl eligible, you can't really say that about the SEC who really only has about 4 good teams (UF, Bama, Ole Miss and GA).
