This was a real heart-breaker of a game. After being blown away on Monday night, I thought we would see the Pack play well in all aspects. The first quarter was like seeing the fifth quarter of the New Orleans game. But then we had hope. And the second quarter showed us the talent on this team. All for nought.
Rodgers looked good through the game after a slow start. The interception at the end hurt a lot, but we have to remember he is a first year QB. They showed interesting stats during the game listing Rodgers as the leading rookie QB. That's who he should be compared to, not #4. It's time to get over the Favre controversy and pay attention to the current season.
Grant was running fairly well, but not great. When Brandon Jackson played after halftime, I didn't know if Grant was injured (hand) or benched. The annoucing team didn't give us any information either. I think that Jackson has been running hard when given the chance, so this was probably a good move. I wondered about it earlier in the season. The O-line and fullbacks did a good job. And it was nice to see Donald Lee back in the game.
The defense did much better than the last game (anything would be better) but let up with critical catches by Steve Smith. We knew that he is a great receiver and there was no margin for error. Wouldn't it be nice to see pass pressure from someone other that #74. I love to watch Kampman, but he needs some help on the line.
This is the first game that Frost did a fairly good job punting. I think he had a stinker early on, but after that he did well. Special teams was a let-down with great runbacks by the Panthers, and no excitement by the Packers.
All in all the roller coaster was painful because of the way it ended. As Jerry Kramer used to say, "We never lost a game, they just ended too soon." Or maybe too late today.
Can we finish 9-7?
Go Pack Go!
