Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan deserves to be the 2008 NFL MVP. I know- you're reading the first sentence to make sure you weren't mistaken. But let's not get right to the arguments...First, let's go over the case for the former Boston College Phenom.

In just one single year,  Ryan has taken an embarassed organization from the gallows, and brought it back to a superbowl- yes, a superbowl- contender. So far this season, Ryan has the third best QB rating for a rookie in the last 40 years. (91.2). He has passed for 13 td's, which puts him in the NFL's top ten. He has also thrown only 6 int's, the lowest amount among QB's who have started all of their team's games this season.

The intimidation of Ryan's passing game has also lead to the Falcons having the league's third-best running attack, with the help of pro-bowl candidate Michael Turner and excellent 2nd string RB/ KR Jerious Norwood

This team was the disgrace of the NFL just one year ago after the Michael Vick saga. Everyone, and I mean everyone, thought it would take many years to fix this Atlanta franchise. But with the 3rd overall pick in the draft, the Falcons brought in a new franchise quarterback, put Vick in the past, and started a new chapter. All of this, in one single year.

I strongly predict the New York Giants will be up against either the Carolina Panthers, or the  Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game.

It's amazing how far they've come in such a short time, and all the success is centered around Matt Ryan.   That's why Matt Ryan should be the 2008 NFL MVP.

The Falcons as a team are definately up to the task to not only make the play-offs, but they could unseat the Giants in the NFC. When you get to the play-offs, it often comes down to who makes less mistakes. Rookie or not, Ryan dosen't make mistakes, and Atlanta's defense and running attack is pretty consistant. Ryan has instictively sees all over the field when he is back to pass. It's hard to teach a QB to read defenses, and look and check off recievers delivering the ball to the right reciever. Ryan can do this, and he's getting better at it! The south division of the NFC is a tough division with Tampa Bay, Carolina, and the Falcons who either one of those teams could be playing in the NFC Championship this year.
