Well, now the debate is on, who deserves the Big 12 South title and the chance to go to the championship game? As has been stated both teams have their points and I truly sympathize with the Longhorns who won head to head. At best this gives more ammunition for those of us who want a playoff system. Some will say the debate at the end of the season is fun, not for me. And if it's that much fun let's enhance the basetball gaming experience by eliminating March Madness and instituting a basketball bowl system as well. Wow, think of the great fun that could be had!!

I'm happy for the Sooners but a playoff system would make sure the final two teams are ready and deserving to play the game. The BCS system has disappointed Texas fans and USC fans and would have disappointed in some other combination had the results turned out any other way, but now it's time to move on.

Unless Missouri has a special game plan ready, or Oklahoma falls to injury early in the contest this game should belong to the Sooners, on paper it looks that way. OU is playing its strongest football and the conditioning and athletic skill level is becoming apparent in the fourth quarter of these late season big games. I thought OSU would be a good test for the Sooners and for a while they were. The Oklahoma defense rose to the occasion but can they withstand a super solid running attack like Alabama's, or another big play QB like Tim Tebow? I don't know. The SEC has had a down year as proven by the struggles of Auburn, LSU and Georgia. Does this translate to any weakness at the top, we'll find out.

Alabama thoroughly dominated Auburn as expected and Florida wore down and crushed Florida State... as expected. The two teams will have a great test against each other in the title game, and what a fascinating game that will be. Florida is the proven commodity with their recent success the last few years, they haven't struggled much all season except against Mississippi in their loss, one has to wonder if their only weakness is the possibility of defeating themselves. Alabama is no slouch either but has shown moments of uninspired football. Will this come back to haunt them? Again, we'll see.

Georgia wasn't ready for a big challenge Saturday and Tech had other plans. The Yellow Jackets have been the hardest team to pin down this season south of Maryland. The ACC has been difficult to guage overall. The Bulldogs have to be disappointed after having national championship aspirations for most of the season.

Another team dropping the ball, of course, was Oregon State. The 'Civil War' is infamous for being a soul crusher for any team with anything left to play for and here is another prime example. USC isn't an automatic Pac 10 champion but does anyone really think UCLA has a chance after we've seen the Trojan defense turn into the steel wall that they've become? OSU was of course playing with an incomplete and injured squad, most teams are by this point. The Beavers need a better defense and more dimensions on offense to expect to win all season long.

I'll skip the top ten this week as there is little point in arguing who's better that whom with the SEC championship set to decide one of the final teams and the Big 12 title game looking like a lock. Missouri could pull a stunner but losing to Kansas sure didn't help their credibility.

I'll have a preview later this week, mainly ecause there is so much discussion at this point there are bound to be new angles by then ...          Bones
