Due to the struggling financial markets and dying level of interest in buying the team, the Chicago Cubs made a tight-fisted move today. Rather than offer Kerry Wood contract arbitration and at minimum, receive draft picks from the next team who signs him, the bumbling and inept Chicago Cubs management decided just to let Kerry Wood go today.

This is a very disappointing and sad way to discard a guy who has given so much to this team in the past 10 years. After struggling with arm problems for years, Wood pitched very well out of the bullpen this year and did an above average job in the closer role. This is reason #405 why you should stop being a Chicago Cubs fan. The organization and team continue to do nothing to earn our money, support or attention.

Frankly, I hope he signs with the Brewers, strikes out every Cub he faces in 2009 and leads the Brew Crew to the division championship. Or even worse, he winds up on the St. Louis Cardinals ...and does the same for them.

kerry wood is constantly injured and the cubs dont have the money its going to take to keep him they made the right decision might as well let him sign somewhere else and get the draft picks he was a type A free agent this year i think so get what you can for him before he gets injured again
