I think that it is clear to everyone that is paying any attention at all to college football that the Big 12 is an unbalanced conference. The South is probably the most competitive division in all of the BCS Conferences. With Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech all with legitimate reasons for being in the Conference Championship game at Arrowhead, I don't think that there could have been a clear winner that satisfied everyone.
In the North, it is a totally different story. The Missouri Tigers are clearly the dominant team in the division( even though they did get beat by Kansas). They do not however, deserve a chance to play for the Big 12 Crown. They are inferior to the top three teams in the South, and possibly even inferior to the #4 team OSU.
I think that this clearly calls for some sort of intervention for ensuing years. The conference officials need to step in and come up with some other sort of system. I would suggest keeping the divisons, for scheduling and rivalry reasons, but I think that the top two teams in the whole conference should meet in the Championship. If Mizzou were to somehow pull out a win against OU on Saturday, then the Big 12 would not get their true champion into the spotlight, and MU would be an unfortunate champion.
