Ball State declined Boise State's invitation to stage a Battle of Unbeatens between two teams in the Humanitarian Bowl on December 30th at Bronco Stadium. This would be a great game. As a Ball State alumni I would like to see it happen. But there is one big problem with playing this game in the Humanitarian Bowl???.. IT'S IN BOISE!!!!! Ok, Broncos put yourself in Ball State's shoes. What if two years ago, you had to play Oklahoma in Norman instead of in Glendale, Arizona? Oklahoma has only lost 2 games at home under Stoops in ten seasons. While I think the win over the Sooners was the best college game ever (I own it on DVD), I don't think Boise State would have beat OU in Norman. So, why should Ball State fly all they way to Boise to play you. If Boise State really wants to play Ball State, they can come to Detroit and play us in the Motor City Bowl. It could be in the Independence Bowl for all I care. But it needs to be somewhere neutral.

That would be a good matchup but I can understand Ball State's position. That game would be a home game for Boise State. That's a bit unfair.
I would love to see it though on a neutral field. College Football needs to make that game happen (assuming Ball State gets by Buffalo first).

In 2003 Boise State went to Texas to play TCU in a bowl game and beat them. A couple years later they played Louisville in the Liberty Bowl (in nearby Nashville) and lost by less than a touchdown. In both cases the Broncos could have stayed home and won easy games in the Humanitarian Bowl. Instead, they choose to enhance their program by playing the "best available team". This year, the Broncos could stay "home" and play a 7-5 ACC team, but instead they're going to pull some strings so they can face a tough TCU team. Meanwhile, the Cardinals will play it safe against (probably) a pathetic 6-6 Notre Dame.
