Today after I got out of school, me and my dad drove to Atlanta for the SEC FanFare. They always have it in the World Congress Center, and this is now two years in a row we have went. I am hoping that this will become a tradition, as well as going to Tennessee and Georgia's spring games. It took us about an hour to get down there and get parked. That's when the fun began.
The next portion of the blog will be talking about stereotypes. There are millions of them, but the ones that I am dealing with are about people from Alabama. There's a million of them, from "everyone's inbred/drunks/illiterate/something else bad". I hate stereotypes, because there's also a million about all southerners (i.e. everyone's inbred, members of the K.K.K, etc.) However, as we got on the elevator to head to the World Congress Center, three girls got on to the elevator. As they got on, I heard one of them say to hold the elevator because we were coming. As we stepped on, this older woman who was an Alabama fan saw my Georgia gear and said (in a very drunken voice) "What the #*^!?? A Georgia fan?" I immediately thought of the song "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". The whole way to the building when anyone passed by, she screamed "Roll Tide!" I was able to get my dad to go a little faster, and as we walked into the building we saw a group of men walking by, and I recognized one of them. It was Lee Corso's little buddy, Kirk Herbstreit. As we headed down the escalator I swear I heard another "Roll Tide!" Coming from behind me.
If you ever have a chance to go to the SEC FanFare, GO! It is great for someone who likes to play and have a good time. There's a bunch of games, like throwing footballs in huge Dr. Pepper cans, a place to kick field goals, and even three or four XBox 360s. There was also some former SEC players, like Chris Leak and Shane Matthews from Florida and a couple of others from Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Alabama. There was also a TON of free crap, which is right up me and my dad's alley.
We left after about three hours of walking around and doing stuff, and staggered in the front door with three bags full or pure, worthless crap. I fear going to sleep at night, for I believe that I will hear someone in my head screaming "Roll Tide!"
