During team introductions before the Army - Navy game, a Navy player carrying the American flag slipped and fell causing the flag to drop and touch the ground.

He immeditely jumped up and held the flag high above his head.

Alot of people watching the game thought the Academy would need to burn the flag. but here is what needs to happen:

**** You should, of course, try to avoid having the flag touch the ground. But if it does, you should correct the situation immediately. If the flag has been dirtied, you should clean it by hand with a mild soap solution and dry it well before returning it to use.

That's it - all those things we were told as young people about how the flag needs to be burned and destroyed is false.

There you go. Your American lecture for the day.
