The BCS just plain sucks. It has control over 5 post season games. Why? Because if their rules. A 10-2 Ohio State team goes to the BCS instead of an 11-1 Texas Tech team. Texas Tech was punished for losing to the currant #1 team in the country. Florida is well deserving of playing in the Championship game. Ole Miss is a very good football team. The Big 12 South is best division in college football. The Pac-10 is low this year. The SEC had a down year. The Big Ten is overrated. The ACC and Big East both suck. Utah will get a rude awakening in New Orleans, just as Hawaii did last year.
My BCS Projections
- Rose Bowl : Southern Cal 45, Penn State 7
- Orange Bowl : Virginia Tech 13, Cincinnati 10 (who cares)
- Sugar Bowl : Alabama 27, Utah 0
- Fiesta Bowl : Texas 35, Ohio State 20
- BCS Championship : Florida 41, Oklahoma 31
Now to the Heisman.
- Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma 4,464 yards, 48 TD, 6 Int, 186.3 QB Rating
- Colt McCoy, QB, Texas 3,445 yards , 32 TD, 7 Int, 77.6 Comp %
- Graham Harrell, QB, Texas Tech 4,747 yards, 41, TD, 7 Int
- Tim Tebow, QB, Florida 2,515 yards passing, 28 passing TD, 2 int., 564 yards rushing, 12 rushing TD

Tech does have a better argument than Boise State...

Would you prefer the pre-BCS format? Would reduce us to 4 major bowls (not 5), 8 teams (not 10), would have the National Champ picked by the polls, would still have 4 or 5 conference champs (I suspect the ACC would have contracted with 1 of these bowls), TT would still be out, and neither Boise nor Utah would be considered.
Now we have 5 major bowls instead of 4, 10 team instead of 8, at least 1 team outside the majors can earn a berth, the National Champ is picked by a game and not purely by the polls, and all conference can earn or lose an automatic bid to the BCS.
If you go looking for controversy, you willl find it in any format.
TT was punished in no small part for playing a notably weak OOC schedule - 2 FCS teams, no OOC game against a team from the majors (take away tOSUs OOC loss against another major conf champ and they only have 1 loss as well).
...and yes, TT does have a better argument than Boise. Then again, I am not impressed by great records by the other 5 conferences.

I guess when Oklahoma played Chattanooga and a 0-12 Washington team it made their OCC better? There should be an 8 team playoff. FCS, Division II & III do it. Why not? Money!
