ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!  The St. Louis Cardinals have lost their mind.  Why oh why would you committ to a guy that doesn't even want to play here?  That is some EXCELLENT descision making by our owners.  First of all he is OLD!  Second of all he didn't want to be here REMEMBER?????  I am not a genius by any means, but I know when to let somebody go and when to hang on to them (do I need to bring up Danny Haren again?).  There are a ton of players that want a shot to play in the bigs, so why hang on to a middle of the road middle infielder when we could get a younger prospect that can bat .200?  And then there is talk of trading Ankiel or Ludwick for a starting pitcher that only wants a short contract.  Sounds promising right?  Dont get me wrong I love Albert but he can't do it alone.  Maybe talk about dealing Duncan and Skippy who don't protect Albert as much.  The Cardinals are not going to be able to fix this problem in one year, but they have got to start thinking about some younger players!!    Maybe somebody can explain to me why the Cardinals hang on to the old timers and watch other teams grab all the young prospects.

Here's what I think has happened with Kennedy: The Cards recognized that they had no offense up the middle with Izturis and Kennedy last year, and they wanted a big offensive upgrade at one of the positions. When they traded for Greene, they got their upgrade. I believe they shopped Kennedy, but no one wanted to take on his salary, so the Cards were faced with trading him and eating salary or keeping him. With Greene on board, I think Mozeliak decided to spend his remaining $$$$$ on pitching and just live with Kennedy/Miles/Barden as his 2B options.

I can see that. My only worry is that they are going to end up getting a Matt Clement or a Mark Mulder which really has hurt us not helped us. I would rather see Miles and Barden because at least they want to play for the Cardinals. Thanks for the comment though

I hope Mozeliak stays away from any starting pitcher with an injury history. We've paid too much the last couple of years to guys that are not playing.

I agree with you.....Kennedy sucks. I went to a game at Busch last year and sat right on the RF wall when Kennedy was playing right field. The dude thought he was still playing second base because every time the Cards got an out, he'd turn to the RF wall and indicate the number of outs....... clearly the guy has some issues.
