Just a month ago the Knicks were packed with 1's and 2's. At one point there was Marbury, Collins, Robinson, Duhon, Crawford, Roberson, and Richardson whom I consider a 2guard. Thats 6 or 7 guys for the PG and SG positions.
Fast forward one month, and theres only Duhon, Richardson, and an injured Robinson playing for those 2 spots. Roberson is not that good at running an offense. So maybe it's time to bring Allan Houston back out of re-retirement!
Just kidding, but maybe its time to look at a combo guard when Cutino Mobley Retires. Someone who can back up both the PG and SG spots, and can take some minutes from a tired Richardson and banged up Nate.
One of those candidates could be Joe Crawford from Kentucky who's a D-leaguer the Lakers cut before the season. He's a leader in points, assists, field goal percentage (all this from a backcourt guy). Statistically he's ranking 2nd in efficiency with nearly 30 ppg, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.5 steals. I think he's a great way to go for a change of pace guy. He's also 6'5 so he can guard PG's and SG's. The main thing I like, is that he's hitting around 40% of his 3's which is good for a 3 point shooting team.
A last way to go would be to ask Isaiah Thomas if he's seen any foreign backcourt guys way out in Siberia, where he's scouting in between overdoses. Low blow, but seriously I hope they take a look at Joe Crawford. Big shout to Jamar Gordon from Mississippi, my other favorite combo guard and sweet 16er from 2008.
