It would mean much more than revanue of the hometown kid. Much more than filling seats using his name. Much more than a great first basemen. Have you ever thought that getting Tex would mean a great pitcher? Or a star center fielder? Ever thought that getting him could mean a great new SS?
I realize what you must be thinking, he plays first base idiot! But think about it. The Orioles make star free agents scared. Scared of what a blunder their careers will be playing for the empitime of the MLB. Getting Tex would show the other Tex's of the world that coming to Baltimore isn't that bad. With Hernandez gone and Wieters ready to start, with Adam Jones emergining as a talented player, with Markakis always very good, and young minor league talents pitching, the Orioles aren't far way from contending. If we get one big free agent, much more will be to come. Think about that.

Problem is, the O's are offering ALMOST same money as the Nationals ($160 mil, vs. $150 mil from the O's), but LESS length (7 years vs. the Nats' 8).
And we need him MORE than you do. No telling IF Nick Johnson can go this year, and now that Dmitri Young will start the year @ Syracuse...we HAVE to have a 1B!!!
Let's see, Teixeira @ 1B, Adam Dunn in the outfield (and fill-in @ 1B, if need be)...hey, this could work out for the Nats. (I'll keep my fingers crossed, just in case...LMAO)

I don't care for the Nats one bit. It isn't like Tex signs with us and we say, here you go, you need him more, we just wasted 150 mil, oh well.

The O's have got to do something, even the Nats are more interesting than the O's are.
