Well, A.J. Burnett has not decided on which team he will go to yet but there are definitely possibilities. He has the Atlanta Braves who offered him 4 years, 60 million or the Yankees, who offered 5 years, 80 million. The Yankees have outbid the Braves and Atlanta is looking to make their offer bigger that comes with an extra 20 million and a 5th year option along with it. Burnett has a hard choice to make: Do you go with the Yankees and succeed once again in the A.L. or go to the N.L. where the Braves are the fourth place team in their division? The Yankees can outbid any team in this league and can beat them as well but the problem is whether Burnett wants the money or the money and success. If he goes to New York, the Yankees have the hitting to support a good pitcher like that, the new stadium he can start the second game in, and the best pitching rotation later to be completed with a signing of Ben Sheets. Burnett is very good pitching against the A.L. and especially the A.L East so why not go with a team who has all the superstars or go to a team that has no one good. The Cardinals are starting to get into the Burnett contract but they can't outbid the Yankees so my prediction: A.J. Burnett to the New York Yankees for Steinbrenner's 5 years and 80 million.

Well, it appears you are correct. Burnett has agreed in principle to a 5 yr/$82.5 million contract with the Yankees.
