Alright, this isn't going to be very well writtten, passions are running high about my team (Ravens) and their supposed loss tonight to the Steelers. On the "TD" play, Big Ben passed to Holmes for a 4 yard gain.
Yes, his feet were in the endzone but...the NFL rulebook, (Link: <http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/definitions>), states the definition of a TD as:
- When any part of the ball, legally in possession of a player inbounds, breaks the plane of the opponent’s goal line, provided it is not a touchback.
Did the ball break the plane. No. Therefore, that play should not have been ruled a TD. The head ref said in his reversing of the call to a TD that Holmes' feet were both in the endzone and he had possession, which he did, but the ball never crossed the plane into the endzone.
Comments? Complaints? Trepidations? Let me know. Updates will be sporadic and inconsistent.
Back to homework...and fantasy football.
