Not that anyone really thought this team was playoff-worthy to start the season, anyway...
It's pretty much official. By essentially giving up against the Bengals today (the BENGALS??? Are you effing kidding me???), any thought of the Redskins seeing a postseason went bye-bye.
The fault for this game lies at the feet of one person only: Jim Zorn.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he had to be aware that Marvin Lewis figured out what everyone else knew--that if you key on Clinton Portis and take him out of his rhythm, you've won half the battle. Does this enter Jim Zorn's feeble little brain?? No, it does not!!! Guess he still had a bug up his hiney from CP calling him out last Tuesday on the radio, and decided to exact payback today.
Now, give me a second while I discuss the back-to-back plays involving Mike Sellers. The 1st one (where the replay showed his knee was down at the 1-yard line) I got no problem with. But the next one (on 4th and goal, from the 1)...what was wrong with letting Jason Campbell sneak it in??? MOVE THE FRICKING PILE!!!
Oh, no. Not the "genius". He decides to give it to Mike again--and unfortunately, Mike fumbles it short of the goal line. Right there, I knew the game was shot to hell. Of course, we all realize it was lost in the 1st quarter...but you know what I mean.
So now I wait for the game tonight, and cheer like a sum-bee-yotch for Eli and the Giants to p-smack the Cowturds. It'll definitely make my weekend palpable. (Oh, BTW, I have another mea culpa to do. Turns out Richmond pulled out their game yesterday over Northern Iowa. I owe J. Hova an apology because I thought it was the other way around. My bad.)
