My brother and I recently attended a Hurricane Vs. Penguins battle at the begining of Dec. and we both could not believe just how quiet and empty it was in the building (except from the Penguin's fans, which almost outnumbered Canes fans) yeah, it was a 5-2 loss for the canes but still, they were a game over .500 at the time and having a pretty good team.....I kept telling my brother that if the Pens have gotten their 6th goal, the other half of the building would be empty. Even in the lean years for my Pens, the crowd would still be there in force cheering for their team.
I will say this though, the RBC center is very nice, and professional staff working the booths and stores, I was talking to a gentalman there for about 20-30 minutes about varous topics such as the vast parking lots and general hockey stuff. Key point being, I think that a seed of hockey knowledge has been planted there and I know the arguments about hockey not taking off in the south, but the potential is there. My family are huge hockey fans and have been for about 13 years (the 95-95 season had me sold).
