My brother and I recently attended a Hurricane Vs. Penguins battle at the begining of Dec. and we both could not believe just how quiet and empty it was in the building (except from the Penguin's fans, which almost outnumbered Canes fans)  yeah, it was a 5-2 loss for the canes but still, they were a game over .500 at the time and having a pretty good team.....I kept telling my brother that if the Pens have gotten their 6th goal, the other half of the building would be empty.  Even in the lean years for my Pens, the crowd would still be there in force cheering for their team.

I will say this though, the RBC center is very nice, and professional staff working the booths and stores, I was talking to a gentalman there for about 20-30 minutes about varous topics such as the vast parking lots and general hockey stuff.  Key point being, I think that a seed of hockey knowledge has been planted there and I know the arguments about hockey not taking off in the south, but the potential is there.  My family are huge hockey fans and have been for about 13 years (the 95-95 season had me sold).

This is my first one of these, go easy on me.

That was the first game after the Hurricanes changed their head coach, so one might forgive the fans for being a bit frustrated and a bit down .

I don't understand why they changed coaches when the Canes were above .500. Maybe they just didn't respond anymore? Who knows.

Good game though

I just got back from game 3 of the ECFs and yes, the Penguins won game 3 6-2 and the Canes fans were restless. After the Pens scored their 5th goal, the fans started to leave like the building was on fire. Then the 6th goal was scored and it started to get nasty.
I was sitting in an isle way seat up in peanut heaven and other than the food thrown my way, drunk Pens and Canes fans starting to push and shove right next to me, I had a little old lady come by and kick me on the side of my shin. I look up and she stormed out the entrance faster than anything I've seen in a while.......and there was a chant that was bellowing around the RBC center......"LETS GO PENS, LETS GO PENS, LETS GO PENS"

On a side note, it's always nice when fans boo their home team, Cam Ward saved the Canes time and time again. The score easily could've been 12-2.
