I was recently listening to the radio (590 the Fan) when one of the afternoon guys brought up the point of resigning Albert Pujols in 2011.  I thought that this would be a good discussion point.  The Redbirds need to keep Albert in the STL.  If they don't, the city's second most beloved ballplayer (behind Stan the Man, of course) would leave and probably go to the Yankees, Red Sox, or, God forbid, the Cubbies.  I know that I, as a lifelong fan, have never seen a player with such an impact on the team and the community.  We would truly be losing a great St. Louisan.  At Albert's age, we can expect him to keep performing at a high level for several more years.  By the time 2011 moves around, he could be worth twice as much as his current contract.  I believe that the Cardinal front office needs to make the sacrifice and keep the man in St. Louis.  As of right now, Albert does not have the league's most premiere supporting cast.  The only reason the Birds have been in contention late in the season during the past couple of years is number 5.  He is Cardinal Baseball.
