Tonight I watched the 5 central time SportsCenter, and was completely blown away by the absurdity of what they were talking about. In the PTI final debate they were talking about who will have the better pro career: Tim Tebow or Tyler Hansbrough. I'll give everyone a minute to let this sink in. We all on the same page now?
Okay, good. How on earth can you compare guys in two seperate sports. I hear people complain all the time about how it's unfair to compare 2 people who play the same sport from different generations. How on earth is this even a debate? Seriously, does ESPN just not think anymore? Of all the things that they could have talked about..they chose this? I wouldn't have cared if they talked about Pro Bowl snubs or Gregg Popovich: keep the beard or not? All more relevant topics than, who is going to have a better pro career in 2 sports that are incredibly difficult to compare.
It's impossible to strike up a debate where the measures of success are completely different. I'll give you an example...in basketball if you're a guy who's an excellent rebounder you could be considered a pretty succesful player. On the flipside in football if you're just a good blocker, yeah you'll continue to get chances, but no one will ever consider you a great player..look at Mike Alstott, by a raise of hands how many of you think to yourselves, "wow I sure miss Mike Alstott", Buccaneer fans don't include yourselves. Meanwhile on the basketball side of things..look at a guy like Dennis Rodman...an excellent rebounder, also could be considered by some a pretty succesful basketball player.
I think ESPN needs to think before they just throw it out random things like this.

it's been a slow sporting market lately. Since CC and Burnett signed, they dont have anything big to talk about.
Plus we can't expect Kornheiser to talk about anything relevant...
By the way, both will be bad in the pros.

Good point. Kornheiser is like the sports worlds answer to Dennis Miller...so many obscure references and no actual point to them.
Also, I do tend to agree with you, neither guy is going to be anything real special at the pro level.

Sportscenter has become a joke, NFL countdown I can't even watch, "Boomer" Berman just totally ruins that show with all his sounds effects and nicknames. Get back to reporting the sports instead of trying to make it a variety show.

I've got to say, from far, far , away compared to you guys, I don't mind Kornheiser. I guess it's because I only get to see him on "PTI" & some of what he says is funny.
Would PTI work without him?? Not sure. They've had the "Bam" dude, but he's terrible.
Maybe it's because he's on MNF that wrecks alot of his respect.
