The Knicks have made a trade with the Utah Jazz. The Knicks will give the Jazz either their 2009 first round pick or 2010 first round pick. The Jazz will give the Suns the rights to Tom Gugliatta, and the Suns will give the Knicks the rights to Stephon Marbury!!!!
Sounds funny doesn't it? The reality is that the Knicks owe the Jazz a first round pick from a 3 team deal between the Jazz, Knicks, and Suns that sent Steph over to NY in the first place. The first round pick is protected in the first 22 picks of next years draft, but the the Jazz can just take it outright in 2010.
Ah, the joys of trading for cornerstones Marbury and Curry routinely come back to bite you, years later. But lets get to the point here. Next years draft is not that talented outside of the first 5 or 6 players, after that everybody is pretty much a 2nd round talent.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not a scout or critic, and don't claim to be, but when I see a draft full of 6'7 power forwards and 6'3 shooting guards, I think it may be a down year. I hope the Knicks give up their draft pick next year so that they can be able to keep the 2010 pick, thats just my two cents on the matter.
One last note. I think everyone in the tristate area knows that this team could use a SG that can hit shots consistently, and maybe a shot blocker. If you go to nbadraft.net theres a SG from Memphis, that might go the Derick Rose route and do a one year and out. His name is Tyreke Evans, check out his youtube, and tell me if you wouldn't want to see this guy in a Knicks jersey in the next year or two. Let me know what you think Knicks fans!!!!!!!!
