"...and we let 'em off the hook!!!"
After seeing the Redskins damn near give this game tonight against the Eagles, you'll forgive me if I feel deja vu has reared its ugly head yet again.
On a "MNF" game @ RFK back in '74, I watched Ken Houston bulldog Walt Garrison at the goal line to preserve a win over the Cowturds. Tonight, LaRon Landry did #27 one better. He stopped the potential tying score less than a foot from the goal line.
It shouldn't have come to that.
I swear to you, it looked as though Jim Zorn was doing everything in his power to give this fricking game away. For starters, exactly what was the point of that 54-yard FG attempt early in the 2nd quarter anyway?? No sense whatsoever. We weren't seeing the postseason anyway, so what was the reason??
Let's be honest, though: the Eagles weren't exactly willing to take advantage of the Skins' screwups. You'll have to ask Philly fans about that...
But the bottom line is, we're now 8-7. And trust me when I say, next Sunday afternoon against the Niners is not a cakewalk. Yet this game just MIGHT have earned Jim Zorn the right to come back next year. Believe me, lose this game today...and I'D be leading the lynch mob on here ready to run him out on a rail.
10-7, your final score. Just thought I'd let you know that...
