With the glut of bowl games on the college football landscape, it's hard to believe that only a dozen years ago a team could win ten games and still be shut out of the postseason. Here's an article about how the first year of the Bowl Alliance conspired to keep the Cowboys out of the postseason in Joe Tiller's last season...

Very good read.

Those were the days. I can recall 1994 when CSU defeated #2 Arizona early in the season, and then went on to a Holiday Bowl victory over Michigan. Unfortunately, the past few years, Wyoming and CSU have both been down. CSU's coming back under Steve Fairchild with the New Mexico Bowl win, and it's exciting to see what Wyoming can do. The MWC has been a 3-horse race for too long. Great work.

Hey, Bigalke. I was on the faculty of the University of Wyoming in Laramie 1962-1966. I followed the Cowboys then and have kept an eye on them ever since. (There are other teams who used the term "Cowboys." They aren't the real McCoy , of course.)

Ragtime Cowboy Joe has had ups and downs over the years. But there is no question that he had an up year and was robbed blind in 1996.

Excellent tale. It was a great read, especially because of your passion for Wyoming football, which helped you tell the story with remarkable detail.

It was truly stunning to read that a ranked team could be jobbed so badly like Wyoming was.

Great job, Bigalke. I thought that it was very well written, just really long, but very well written nonetheless.

Nice article.... Hope next year's article can be about the 10-2 Aztecs.

Who am I kidding-I would be happy to see an article about the 7-5 Aztecs.
