The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys to get the alst spot in the NFC yeasterday. The Minnesota Vikings won and the Chicago Bears lost to the Houston Texans to help Minnesota clinch the third spot in the NFC and the NFC North. The Carolina Panthers won to clinch the NFC South and the last and second first round bye in the postseason. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers clinched fourth in the AFC with their AFC West winning 52-21 romp of the Denver Broncos in which LaDanian Tomlinson scored three touchdowns. Peyton Manning of the Colts won his ninth straight game and became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards in nine straight seasons in a 23-0 shutout over the Titans. The Miami Dolphins clinched the AFC East with a win over the Jets, The Dolphins are 11-5, tied with the Patriots who also won and are 11-5 but Miami owns the tiebreaker over New England. The Patriots also lost their wild card spot to Baltimore who won and they also owned a tiebreaker with New England. The Lions fired head coach Rod Marinelli and the Cleveland Browns fired head coach Romeo Crennel after losing by a combined score of 45-0 in the past two games and not scoring an offensive touchdown for 6 straight games. Eric Mangini of the Jets was also fired. Drew Brees finished the season with 5,069 yards, only 15 short of the all-time single-season record for most passing yards in a season in NFL history. Ryan Longwell made his 20th career game-winning field goal yesterday against the Giants as time expired. Playoff games for this weekend and scenerios.
